Title V Outreach and Services

Title V outreach and services are linked together through a wrap-around system which embraces retention principles, a student ambassador component, and a personalized, hands-on approach. .

Broad based marketing and recruitment:

  • Radio and Newspaper Advertising
  • Targeted Direct Mailers
  • Participation in college-wide outreach project for High Schools
  • Community -based organizations
  • Alternative High Schools and Adult Education programs

Bilingual Focus:

  • Relevant marketing materials translated and produced in Spanish
  • Spanish version for Telephone Registration and Admissions Information
  • All outreach activities and follow-up contact work is documented for outcomes evaluation and future outreach planning

Service:

  • New students are assisted with admissions, assessment, registration and financial aid processes
  • Evaluation of additional service needs to increase student linkage and participation in college support programs and services
  • Utilization of Mission College's Early Alert report to provide additional student intervention for target groups within grant objectives
  • Dedicated counseling and development of counseling course with focused curriculum in areas of team-building and student self-empowerment
  • Interface and collaboration with Welcome Center and Pedagogical Component in order to further effect outreach support and retention activities such as student focus groups and mentorship.
