Test Tips

Creating assessments is easy as long as you plan head before using Test Pilot. Keep in mind that students can't raise their hand and ask for clarification when taking an online test. Here are a few things to consider before creating your online assessment:

  • Decide in advance what type of questions you will include in the assessment. Questions should measure criteria specified in your lesson objectives and goals.
  • Decide on a point value for each question or if you will use a weighted scoring system.
  • Decide on the level of feedback you want to give students when the assessment is scored. Don't give so much feedback that they can print copies and provide the answers to classmates, but do give enough feedback so students understand the reason for their error.
  • Give clear instructions to your students on how to access and complete the assessment; give them the assessment URL.

For more information on computerized assessments, take a look at the Illinois Online Network Assessment page.
