Overview:

Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) continues to provide
summer employment and internships by hosting undergraduate
and graduate students in support of it's world-class scientific
facilities and staff and in an effort to help train the
nation's next generation of scientists and engineers. Through
the University Relations Program, one vehicle for summer
research is the Critical Skills Internship Program which
helps match college and graduate students with research
internships within the Laboratory's Stockpile Stewardship
Program.
The Scholars Employment Program is another vehicle to apply
for a summer paid hands-on research experience. Both vehicles
allow participants to broaden their education, continue
their training, and participate in leading-edge scientific
research. As a national laboratory with state-of the-art
research facilities and capabilities, LLNL addresses a broad
range of important national needs. We have developed wide-ranging
capabilities in applied science and technology. With unique
expertise in selected research areas and many specialized
facilities and centers of excellence.

Selection
Process: |
- Selections
and assignments are based on academic achievements, prior
experience, technical interest and number of positions available.
- Applicants interest forms/resumes will be disseminated
to researchers through the winter and spring. Most managers
may not know their summer employment budget until February
or later.
- Only individuals who are being considered for selection
will be contacted. If you are not contacted by March 1st,
it is unlikely that a suitable project has been found.
- An applicant interest form/resume is the first step. Selected
candidates will be requested to complete an official LLNL
Employment Application which includes a security questionnaire,
as well as submit an unofficial transcript. Final approval
for hire is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a
pre-employment investigation. Security clearances typically
take 4+ weeks to obtain.
