Overview:






Summer internships for graduate and undergraduate students are available in the Department of Chemistry Research & Discovery at our research sites in Thousand Oaks, CA, and the Cambridge Research Center in Cambridge, MA in the areas of Medicinal Chemistry, High Throughput Screening & Molecular Pharmacology, Small Molecule Analytics, Crystallography and Modeling, Research Automation & Technology, Cloning and Expression and Cellular Screening, and Small Molecule Process Development.

Departmental specific programs will be designed to provide the intern with hands-on drug discovery experience, such as designing and synthesizing novel compounds for potential drug candidates, analytical and chemical database information management, robotic miniaturization automation, and biochemical pharmacological screening of drug targets and candidates.

Eligibility:

- Must be a chemistry, biochemistry, biology/microbiology or chemical engineering major.
- Undergraduates MUST be advancing into their Junior year in Fall.
- Graduate students MUST be scheduled to matriculate in Fall
- Must be a U.S. citizen or international student with a valid F1 or CPT visa.

  Requirements:
- Participants are required to complete the entire nine week program. 
- The research objectives of the program are substantial and require full-time student commitment. 
- Near the end of the program each participant is required to give an oral presentation and submit a research report describing his/her research.
- Each participant must attend all required  workshops, lectures, informal faculty meetings and weekly student/staff meetings.
