General Requirements and Application Process

Requirements

Students interested in finding internships should meet following requirements:

  • Must have updated resume that:
    1. clearly outlines your objectives
    2. clearly states the type of internship you are interested in
    3. lists relevant experience, course work, and skills
  • Must be prepared to formally interview with Employer or Internship Coordinator. Student should be able to clearly explain his/her goals and what he/she would like to gain from internship.
  • Must currently be enrolled at Mission College
  • Must have completed introductory courses within major
  • Must be able to provide a teacher reference who can verify skills, abilities, and academic performance.
Application Process

Students who meet the above requirements can fill out and submit the Mission College Internship Program Student Application (.pdf) and send it with a copy of their resume to:

download the application in Microsoft Word, modify the form, and then email the application along with an electronic copy of their resume to .

Once an application is turned in, the Internship Coordinator will contact you to set up a meeting to review your goals, available resources and current opportunities.

Students who do not currently meet requirements, but would like to access resources to prepare for future internship opportunities can do so by:

  • Attending Job Search Workshops through the Career Placement Center (E1-201). Recommended workshops are: Resume Writing, Interview Techniques, Job Search Strategies, and Mock Interviews.
  • Enrolling in one of the followng courses: COUNS 012 Careers and Lifestyles, COUNS 102 Skills for Success, or COUNS 901 Student Success Strategies. (Please see course catalog for dates and times of courses.)
