  1. Who can be a member of ASB? Every student at Mission College is a member of ASB. You are entitled to all privileges that come with the ASB membership. You are however not allowed to be a voting member unless you file a petition for becoming a Senator.
  2. Why should I become an officer or a Senator? There are numerous advantages to becoming an active ASB member.
    • You can gain valuable experience in areas of finance, activities coordination, as well as learning and understanding governmental and electoral procedures.
    • You get to play an active role in deciding how ASB allocates over $100,000 of it's annual income.
    • ASB takes its members for out of town conferences that are paid for by ASB; teach students how to develop their leadership skills, build friendships with other student leaders across California, strengthen campus communities, and better themselves in the Senate.These conferences are fun, informative, and also provide valuable insight into organizational development.

What does ASB do? ASB represents the students of Mission College by participating in various forums and committees, both on and off campus. They also:

  • Run their meetings through shared governance, similar to what the actual US Government does.
  • Sponor and host events on compus
  • Sit on the WVM Board of Trustees meetings
  • Give $30,000 annually in scholarships to students of Mission College
  1. Who can attend ASB meetings? ASB meetings under the Brown Act and are open to all members of the public. Come by and check out how we work. You might like it and want to join!
  2. Where is the ASB office? It's is directly above the Information Desk in the Campus Center.
  3. I cannot attend the meetings; how can I et the minutes? ASB meeting minutes are publicly available to all. Please contact either Carolyn Kuri (408-855-5407) or Student Activities Assistant at (408-855-5406) for more information.
  4. OK, maybe I'll attend a couple. When and Where are ASB meetings held? ASB meetings are held every Wednesday, 3:40pm~4:45pm in Rm. 215 in the Campus Center building.
  5. I have a really good idea for an activity, who can I share it with? Swing by the ASB office and try to find an officer or a senator. Someone is usually there. If you can't find someone, try them at their preferred contact. You can also directly reach the Activities Director.
  6. I've read through the whole thing, and I don't see my question listed here. What do I do now? Try contacting one of the officers listed on the site. If you can't get hold of anyone, contact Carolyn Kuri at 408-855-5407 or Student Activities Assistant at 408-855-5406.
