Workshops, Campus Events, and Community Events

In collaboration with "TEAM" (The EOPS, ACCESS, MESA group), ACCESS provides workshops to give students opportunities to overcome many academic and personal obstacles. Topics range from Setting Academic Goals to Overcoming Test Anxiety.

Workshops Online in Angel *

ACCESS is pleased to announce a number of NEW online workshop opportunities in the ACCESS Angel Group. In addition to the Scholarship Essay Writing Workshop and the New Student Orientation, there are a number of online workshops related to Academic & Career Exploration, Personal Management, and Learning to Learn. Here you will also find other useful information and a place to ask questions or share resources with your fellow students.

Log in to ANGEL by going to http://wvmccd.angellearning.com/default.asp

Your Username is your 7 digit college ID#.

Your password is your 6 digit birth date mmddyy.

To find the workshops in Angel after you have logged in: Look below your list of Courses on the LEFT under "Community Groups." Find and click on "Mission College ACCESS Orientation Group" and then click on the "CONTENT" tab at the top. Everything is there.

After watching a workshop in the "Web Workshops for Success" section, look for its accompanying online quiz in the "Web Workshops Comprehension Quizzes" section. When you have completed the quiz, Angel will automatically track it for you and mark it as completed in your record.

* The "Mission College ACCESS Orientation Group" and these workshops are ONLY available to registered ACCESS students. If you are an enrolled ACCESS student and cannot locate the Angel ACCESS Group, please tell an ACCESS staff member. If you are not an ACCESS member, please go to the Application page to see if you qualify.

 

Workshops on DVD

A number of workshops are available on DVDs that you may borrow or watch in the Access Office. Come to the ACCESS office to see what titles are available.

To borrow a DVD:

  1. Check out DVD from ACCESS Staff member, who will give you the DVD and handouts for the workshop.
  2. Watch DVD either in the ACCESS Office or you may check it out to watch at home.  As you watch, you will need to refer to the handouts from your packet, take notes, finish the quiz and complete assignments as necessary.
  3. When you return the DVD, you'll need to bring the following items to receive credit for the workshop. 

         *DVD

         *Completed Quiz

         *Workshop Survey

         *Notes from watching the video (to show only, will not be collected)

         *Any other Activity assignments (to show only, will not be collected)

         *A Pink ACCESS Program Activity Attendance Form for each DVD watched

Community Events and Opportunities

 

CATS (Community Access Ticket Services)

As an ACCESS student, you will be invited to events all across the Bay Area such as aquarium and museum visits, plays, and other events. The tickets are provided by ACCESS so that you and your family can enjoy educational events.

Please check your emails frequently for events announcements. CATS announcements are often received with VERY SHORT NOTICE. Don't miss out by missing short deadlines!

To qualify for the CATS Program, please read Rules for CATS Events. Please read, sign and turn in the Student Ticket Agreement to qualify to attend CATS events. 

Vision New America
