Laptop Loan Program
Through the Students Helping Students program, we are able to loan a limited number of laptop computers to students for academic purposes. These laptop computers are provided by Student Recycling Used Technology (StRUT).
Terms and Conditions of the Laptop Loan Program
- The student must have completed at least six (6) units at Mission College prior to applying for a laptop.
- The student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0, and not be on academic probation.
- The student must provide a copy of his or her current academic schedule showing full-time enrollment in 12 or more units.
- The student must provide a one-page description of need.
- The student must provide accurate information regarding address and phone number(s), and these should be updated with A.S.B. within three days of any change of address and/or phone number(s).
- A computer is loaned for one (1) semester and must be returned during the week before finals of that semester, unless prior written approval is granted.
- Should the student withdraw, the loaned computer is to be returned immediately.
- Upon returning the computer, the student will be asked to filled out an evaluation on how the laptop provided further assistance and benefits to the student and/or suggestions on how the laptop loaner program can be improved.
- Any damage to the computer must be reported within 24 hours.
- The student alone is responsible for data on a loaned computer, and should regularly back up important data.
- The student’s grades, transcripts, and ability to register for classes will be put on hold if the computer is not returned within the time frame stated.
- The student is responsible for the condition of the computer. If neglect is determined, the student must pay for the repairs or be subject to being placed on a hold.
Please read the following instructions prior to submitting application:
- Complete the entire application including the Statement of Need. (Applications will not be considered if this part is not completed).
- Stop by the ACCESS Program office (C1-117) to submit your application and to schedule a 15-minute appointment with an ACCESS Staff member.
- During your appointment, your application will be reviewed to make a final determination about your eligibility for borrowing a laptop.
- During your appointment, the Student Contract will be reviewed and signed.
