Application 

MESA CCP (Math Engineering Science Achievement Community College Program), part of the MESA Undergraduate Program, provides support to community college students who are majoring in math, engineering and science so they excel academically and transfer to four-year institutions. MESA CCP is a partnership with the California Community College Chancellor's Office.

Eligibility Criteria
  • MAJOR: You have chosen a major in a Math, Engineering or Science related field. Typical majors include: Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, PreMed, Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Pharmacy and Physics.
  • TRANSFER: You plan to transfer to a four-year university to earn a bachelor's degree.
  • REQUIRED CLASSES: In order to transfer you plan to complete at least Math 1 (Pre-calculus) or higher AND any 2 courses from the following list: Math 2, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, 4C, 19; Physics 4A, 4B, 4C; Biology 1A, 1B, 4, 41, 42, 43, 47, 48; Chemistry 1A, 1B, 12A, 12B.
  • STATUS: You are a US citizen, permanent resident, or in the process of obtaining a green card.
  • FIRST IN FAMILY: Neither you, or your parents, have a BS/BA.
    • FINANCIAL HARDSHIP (SELECT ONE): You are eligible for financial aid (or the BOGW or Pell Grants) OR
    • You are eligible for EOP&S, ACCESS or CalWORKs, OR
    • You are not yet 25, but you live on your own.
Student Learning Outcomes

By participating in MESA, students will:

  1. Demonstrate a command of skills in the chosen field of study and exhibit the appropriate study skills to master the material.
  2. Identify a long-term support system including faculty, fellow students, campus and off-campus resources, organizations, and potential employers.
  3. Obtain an educational plan that outlines the requirements needed for transfer to a four-year institution.
  4. Create an adequate resume in order to obtain internships to professionally develop themselves for tomorrow’s workforce.
  5. Develop the confidence required to successfully navigate the academic process at the accepted transfer institution.

INSET Summer Internship Program!

The Cal Summer Experience-June 23-25, 2013 is a college prep program scheduled for three days and two nights stay on the Berkeley campus. MESA Student Support Services

Student Study Center: a dedicated multipurpose space for study, workshops and information sharing.

Academic Excellence Workshops: allow students to work in groups on common curriculum courses and develop group study techniques.

Tutoring Services: available in the following subjects: Intermediate Algebra, Calculus, Trigonometry, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, C Programming, and Computer Science.

Orientation courses: teach college survival skills to incoming students majoring in math, engineering and science.

Assistance in the transfer process: includes field trips to universities, workshops on applications & scholarships, and counseling.

Career advising: introduces work options to students. Field trips, job fair information, and job shadowing exercises are available to students interested in specific fields.

Links with student and professional organizations: provides mentors, guest speakers, and offers industry tours.

Professional development workshops: include workshops in resume preparation, interview skills, and how to find part-time/full-time and summer employment.

What: Attend this workshop to strategize project ideas for the Spring 2013 MESA Science & Engineering Fair, learn about Fair rules/guidelines and develop project teams! Project teams can consist of 3 Mission College Students (one team member must be a Mission College MESA Student). Grand Prize: $400 per team member!
