I. Call to Order/Roll Call

The meeting was called to order by President Don Cordero at 1:35 p.m. Senators present: Lois Carroll (Instructional Support Serv., Ext. 3226), Don Cordero (Pres/Counseling, Ext. 3142), Judy Hooper (Student Services, 3146), Mike McKenna (AAS, 2752), Peggy Messerschmidt (Communications, Ext. 3415), Diane Pette (Student Services, Ext. 3138), Clint Poe (Natural Science, Ext. 3436), Joan Powers (ESL, Ext. 3401), Helayna Thickpenny (CATA, Ext. 3368), and Wilbert Xu (Social Science, Ext. 3447).

II. Administrative Business/Actions/Appointments

A. Appoint Faculty Member to District Distance Learning Committee - Three faculty have volunteered to serve on this committee: DeeDee Bicocca, Dick Przybylski, and Greg Tiernan. The Senators selected DeeDee Bicocca to serve on this committee by written ballot.

B. Staff Recognition - The Senators unanimously passed the following motion: (M/S/U - Carroll/McKenna)

"Whereas, The week of April 13-19 has been designated National Library Week; and

Whereas, Wednesday, April 16, has been designated Library Assistant Day to honor paraprofessionals in our nations' libraries and resource centers; and

Whereas, The Mission College Library Media Assistants provide exemplary and highly skilled support for the operation of the Learning Resources Department; and

Whereas, The Mission College Library Media Assistants provide assistance to the faculty and staff of the college in ways too numerous to mention; and

Whereas, The Mission College Library Media Assistants are active members of the Mission College Community;

Therefore, Be It Resolved, That the Mission College Academic Senate recognizes and appreciates the dedicated service that Jerry Biggs, Madge Masson, Eileen Parrish, Pam Phillips, Martha Pugno, and Barbara Scott give to students and staff of Mission College."
