a. Tech Prep Course Articulation
Don explained that in the past the legislature and some manufacturing-type
people met and determined it was not useful for high school students to repeat
vocational curriculum in college.
High school students are still expecting college credit for high school
courses that they have taken.
There is no process detailed in Mission’s catalog. The question is do we give college
credit for high school courses? If
so, what is the process? Dianne
suggested that a subcommittee be formed to begin working on the policy. The recommendation is that once the
subcommittee has prepared a draft of a process, they present it to CRC.
Don suggests we should come up with issues that need to be resolved rather than
a solution. The charge of
the subcommittee must be clearly identified such as: what are the courses
involved; what are the agreements we have in place; where do we go with this?
The charge of the committee will be to begin the discussion, gather some points
and bring these items to the CRC.
