6.     New Business

  1. Distance Learning: Cindy Vinson had concerns about DL courses not being passed through her before it gets approval. In the future, CRC representatives will need to check with proposer to see if the DL course have gone through Cindy Vinson (distance learning coordinator) prior to CRC approval. Also, L. Witschi added the Library needs to view courses prior to CRC approval.
  2. CRC Process: The committee is extremely concerned about those areas that do not have CRC representatives. Many upcoming issues/decisions will be made directly affecting these areas. In addition, those who are putting through curriculum do not have any CRC representative support. Many questions are being directed towards the CRC Chair and CRC Tech Review Chair, taking time away from their primary responsibilities. Some suggestions have been to not pass through curriculum for those areas without representation, contacting Division Chairs, and contacting Academic Senate. B. Ensminger will talk with the Academic Senate president for direction.

There will be a CRC training session for all faculty on Monday, November 14th.

Public Access to CRC minutes: Meeting minutes will be placed on the CRC website for public access (salsa.missioncollege.org/curriculum).

7.     Old Business

a.     Hours By Arrangement (HBA): CRC representatives will need to inform their constituents and start the process to either remove or justify for the HBA. Currently, there are 3 departments (ESL, Art, Communication Studies) working on the HBA. Math will delay this process until next semester. PE will take this back to their department meeting and discuss how to proceed with it. L. Witschi informed CRC that her constituents are adamant about including a signature line for the VP of Instruction to sign. There was a concern about the recent PGC adjustment to department goals. Will removing the HBA affect these plans or will the departments be held harmless.

8.              Future Agenda

a)    Vocational – No discussion

b)    New Online Process: The bid went out and the winner is CurricuNet. The software package will be purchased in the near future and projected implementation/installation will be in Spring 2006. Training will probably not begin until Fall 2006.

9.              Adjournment

MSC (Witschi/Dworak) to adjourn at 3:25 pm.
