(7) EDUC*001 – Introduction to College
Teaching & Learning Strategies – 1.0 Unit
Harriett stated that as far as she knows, we can create our prefixes without
State input. Since this is a
stand-alone course, it would have to go to the State for approval. The State feedback could be concerns
over whether this was designed for in-house use, would it be advertised to all
students, is it really a staff development function, etc. Ed code limits transferability of
educational credits to 6 units (which is being reviewed). Jane’s vision is to include
students in this section in the future which would enhance this course. Harriett would like to research this
further and include it as part of a more organized program and larger
picture. Harriett suggested offering
this course as an experimental course.
There is still the issue of tying it to an existing department. This item will be tabled until next
week’s meeting while Jane and Harriett work on some of the issues.
(8) ENGR*029 – Programming Skills Practicum for
Engineers – 3.0 Units
This item will be removed from the agenda and the CRC disk since the proposer
is rewriting the course. Jennifer
will email the file to the representative for future submittal.
(9) PSYCH*002(A) – Experimental Psychophysiology

There is an issue with the course number because PSYCH*002 has been inactivated
in the system. Chris agreed to
change the number to PSYCH*002A.
{Delete PSYCH*002 file from disk}.
This course will go forward for second reading with the new course
number.

This item will be removed from the agenda and CRC disk. Jennifer will email the file to the
representative for future submittal.
(11) VN*035 – Beginning Pharmacology

This item will be removed from the agenda and CRC disk. Jennifer will email the file to the
representative for future submittal.
(12) VN*55A2 – Medical Surgical Nursing
Theory – DL – 4.0 Units
This DL course will go forward for second reading and approval will be granted
contingent on the Board of Trustees approving the rescission of the Spring 2003
revisions. (Rescinding the
revision on this course will change the course name from VN*030 back to VN*55A2
so it is appropriate to have a DL course for VN*55A2 once the revision is
rescinded.)

(8) FDRST*079 – Introduction to Wine
and Food Pairing – 3.0 Units
Yolanda presented an explanation of Life Long Learning requirement. Harriett has questions about the
legality of offering this course with underage students registered. This course will be tabled until the
proposer can offer answers to the questions that were raised. Both Don and Yolanda feel there is a
lack of breadth for lifelong learning general education. Scott Brunson joined the meeting to
discuss the committee’s concerns.
Scott is okay with removing the GE requirement for lifelong
learning. Total consumption of
wine during each class is 4-5 ounces.

uncomfortable with serving alcohol to minors. She will work with the department. This item will be tabled until next meeting.
