BUS 078C
(new and DL) was removed for discussion.
Peggy
Messerschimdt, representing the English department, presented a list identifying the overlapping areas between
ENGL 075 and BUS 078C. She felt
that about 80% of the course content and objectives are overlapping with ENGL
075. Although ENGL 075 has not
been offered for the past several semesters, the English department is planning
on revising the course and would like to entertain the idea of having these two
courses co-listed.
Melanie
Meyers, representing the Business department, also presented a document
identifying areas that may be overlapping. She felt that there is little overlapping if any between the
two courses. While both courses
have assignments covering reports and proposals, the courses differ in their
focused audience and perspectives, and therefore co-listing the courses would
not be a good idea.
After
some discussion on the overlapping issue, it was discovered that there are no
official overlapping policy in place.
Also, Yolanda Coleman reported that many other colleges currently have
similar courses in their curriculum.
It was MSC (Dworak/Szabados) to move BUS 078 and BUS 078(DL) forward for
second reading (6 for/ 0 against/ 3 abstain). The English department would also
have the opportunity for further discussion at the next meeting before these
courses are approved to go to the board.

a. HBA
Recommendation Guidelines and Representative to Districtwide Committee – It was made clear that this will be a
taskforce and not a committee. Dianne reported that district is out of compliance
with the “Hours By Arrangement” (HBA). The issue deals with interpretation of direct supervision
and a tracking mechanism of these hours.
The guidelines for HBA will be brought to Academic Senate for further
discussions. CRC will need to
nominate a representative to serve on this districtwide taskforce. This nomination will take place on the
April 19th meeting.
b. Online
CRC Process Update –
A sub-group of CRC members met and tested out the beta-version of the online
