The Mission College Academic Senate participates in a variety of activities to recognize the achievements of Mission College faculty, staff and students.

Mission College Student Nguyen (Steven) Phan has won the Spring 98 prestigious Jonah Laroche Award for community college transfer students. The award is administered by the Academic Senate for the California Community Colleges. Steven was honored at a luncheon ceremony at the Spring Plenary Session in San Francisco on Saturday April 25. Congratulations to Steven.

Joint Faculty/Administration Awards are made annually in five categories, with nominations accepted from the faculy at large, and selections made by a committee composed of senators and administrators. The five categories are:

Associate Faculty Excellence

Publishing Excellence

Service to the College Excellence

Service to the Community Excellence

Teaching Excellence

In addition faculty are nominated by the Academic Senate for the NISOD Excellence Award, from the University of Texas at Austin.

The Academic Senate also administers a Senate Staff Recognition Program to recognize those activities of classified staff and administrators that benefit the college community. Senators bring these nominations to a Senate meeting for action.
