Internet Access
The library has over 65 computers for use by students, faculty, staff, and community users for research on the Internet.
- Computers are available for Internet searches on a first-come, first-served basis. It is not necessary to reserve computers to sign up for specific times.
- Priority is given to students needing to use the Internet for class assignments and research.
- Users may print documents for ten cents ($.10) per page.
- Downloading web pages, graphics, or other files to one's own disk, CD, or USB device is permitted (the library does not sell disks, CDs, or USB devices).
- Emailing documents is free but is only possible when visiting a web site that is specifically set up to support that process.
- Library computers have the full Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, various web browsers, media players, and many workstations have DVD viewing capabilities. If access to other applications are needed students should ask a Librarian or check with the Technology Support Center in the Campus Center.
The library provides wireless access for laptop computers (see the Librarian at the Information Desk for the username/password). Printing is not available for computers using the Internet via a wireless connection.
- Instructions for connecting to the network (PDF; requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)
- District Wireless Access Policy (PDF; requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)
The Library staff makes no attempt to restrict access to any material in printed or visual form available on the Internet. Users should be aware that they may
encounter materials that they may consider objectionable or offensive in nature. The Library does not assume responsibility for the contents of non-District web sites,
but does encourage free inquiry of information resources as described in the West Valley-Mission Community College District's Policy on Academic Freedom (Board Policy Manual 4.9).
