Computer FAQs
- Are Distance Learning courses fully transferable college course accepted for credit at all California universities? Yes. Distance Learning courses at Mission College are fully transferable.
- Are there any special fees or hidden costs? No. Course fees are the same as any on-campus course.
- Are there required books to buy? Yes, just like any other college course. They can be purchased from the Mission College Bookstore or through a number of online outlets such as Amazon.com.
- How do we get our assignments? Assignments and other course materials are usually found in ANGEL or posted on a class web site. Specific information for your course will be given to you during the orientation.
- How do we turn in our assignments? Most student work is submitted, graded, and returned via e-mail or the ANGEL digital drop box, or scheduled orientations and meetings.
- Do I have to come on campus to take tests? Specific information about tests in your course will be provided during the orientation. Most instructors will help arrange proctoring of examinations for students who can not attend on-campus examinations.
- When do these classes meet? Most courses have either a required online or face-to-face orientation. Students taking distance courses are also required to use e-mail and discussion forums to communicate with the instructor and other students almost daily. You might say that these classes are available for access in Cyberspace 24 hours a day.
- Are counselors available for distance learners? Yes, counselors are available for distance learners. The Counseling Services Department web site is at: www.missioncollege.org/depts/coun/default.html. You can also complete an online orientation at www.missioncollege.org/depts/coun/orientation/becoming.html.
- Can students taking distance learning courses qualify for financial aid? Yes, distance learners qualify for financial aid. The Financial Aid web site is at: www.missioncollege.org/student_services/financial_aid/default.html. You also review a financial aid orientation at: www.collegemediasolutions.com/otv/colleges/mission/
- I need help with MyWebServices. Whom do I contact? If you need help with MyWebServices, go to https://webreg.wvm.edu/WAMC/html/contactus.html and click the “Ask Mission College” link.
- I need help with ANGEL. Who do I contact? Most of your help questions can be answered at the ANGEL Support site: http://angelsupport.missioncollege.org/

top - Why am I unable to login to Angel? Most problems arise from a student incorrectly constructing their login name. Please note - your Angel login is NOT the same as your WebAdvisor login! To log into ANGEL:
- Go to: http://wvmccd.angellearning.com
- Type your Username and Password in the appropriate fields.
- Click the Log On button.
Note: Your username is your Student ID number. You can find your Student ID number on the front of your student ID card. Your password is birth date (mmddyy). For example, if your birthdate is March 10, 1984, then your password is 031084.

- My browser does not display properly. Angel courses have minimum browser requirements. If at all possible use Internet Explorer 6+ or Firefox 2.0 for the PC, and Firefox 2.0 for the Mac. Safari is not supported by ANGEL. In addition, AOL browsers are not suitable for Angel classes.

top - What are the minimum computer system hardware requirements for an online course? Almost any reasonably contemporary computer sytem with audio, a CD drive and internet access will be adequate. If at all possible use Internet Explorer 6+ or Firefox 2.0 for the PC, and Firefox 2.0 for the Mac. Safari is not supported by ANGEL.
