Scott has been teaching tennis for 21 years. He has coached at the Community College level for 15 years most notably at Cabrillo College. His teams were ranked in the final state rankings the following years: 1989,1992,1993,1996. He also received Coast Conference Coach of the Year in 1997.

Scott has an impressive playing resume. He was the Community College Conference Champion (Napa Community College ) back to back years in 1980 and 1981 where he went undefeated in 1981. He then transferred to and played for UCSC whose team was Nationally ranked both years. He was an NCAA All-American in 1984. Professionally he was ranked in the USTA Men’s Open Level from 1985 to 1990. He also is well traveled by playing in the International Satellite Circuits in Europe and the US from 1989–1990.

At Mission, Scott teaches badminton, tennis, and bowling classes. He also coaches the women's soccer and tennis teams. He plans to develop a stress management class and sport psychology classes for the future.
