Joseph

San Jose State University; M.M. San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Has performed as soloist with the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra, South Valley Symphony, San Francisco Concerto Orchestra, San Jose State University Symphony, New England Youth Ensemble and at the TCU/Cliburn Piano Institute and University of Maryland International Piano Festival. Since 1991, he has also performed as a member of the Monterey County Symphony, and has performed in numerous recitals throughout the Bay Area. He has also studied conducting at the Conductor's Institute at the University of Hartford and at the Pacific Music Festival. Mr. Ordaz has previously taught at Gavilan College and Foothill College. |

Formerly on the faculty of Yale University; University of California, San Diego; Cuesta College; Allan Hancock College; College of San Mateo, and De Anza College, Dr. Johnson's orchestral and chamber compositions have been performed throughout the United States. He is also an actively performing jazz guitarist, avid electronic musician, and passionate advocate of emerging music and multimedia technologies. |

Hawkins Full-time (408) 855-5285 Email: phillip_hawkins@wvmccd.cc.ca.us Performance and clinic credits include appearances at: Jazz at Pearls - San Francisco, Yoshi‚s - Oakland, Wichita Jazz Festival, National Guitar Workshop, Big Sur Jazz Festival, Panorama Competition in Port of Spain, Trinidad, Ellie Mannette Steel Drum Workshop, University of Miami, East Bay Center for the Performing Arts, Orange County Jazz Festival and numerous bay area festivals and clubs. Hawkins obtained his formal education from Wichita State University under Dr. J.C. Combs. While there, he received a Bachelors degree in Music Education and a Masters degree in Percussion Performance. Phil is also a nationally renowned composer and author. His first book, World Rhythms for Kids: Caribbean Carnival, is a world music curriculum for teachers that includes a play-along cd and sheet music for beginning steelband. His second book, Caribbean Jazz Ensemble, features twenty of his original compositions arranged for jazz combo. Hawkins' newest book, entitled Pan Rhythm, is receiving tremendous reviews from the pan community as a method book for beginning pan students. |

Ms. Drion has studied extensively with the noted pianist Adolph Baller and with Dr. Robert Hagopian and has performed in recital on many occasions. Yoka has been teaching in the West Valley-Mission Community College District continuously since 1974. Previously, she taught at San Jose State University. Additionally, she has taught for Yamaha and continues to teach private piano students of all ages. |

Linduska Adjunct,
Voice Class (408) 855-5567 x5838 Ms.Linduska received her bachelor's degrees in vocal performance and music education from the University of Illinois. She maintains a private vocal studio in Campbell, California, while teaching part time at San Jose State and Stanford Universities. She has sung leading roles in opera, including Musetta in La Boheme; in oratorio, as soloist in Mozart's Requiem; and in the symphonic repertoire, in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. Currently she performs recitals of music by women composers. |

Guitar Web page: Go to Web page of Phil Vargas Mr. Vargas has been teaching guitar at Mission College since 1979. He holds a B.A. in music from San Jose State University. He has completed extensive graduate work and holds a California Community College Teaching Credential. He has worked with such noted guitar masters as Laurindo Almeida, Leo Brouwer, Manuel Barrueco, and Abel Carlevaro. And San Jose State, he studied with Bahram Behroozi. Mr. Vargas has donated his time in performances at convalescent homes and charitable institutions, and has played at many coffeehouses, restaurants and recitals throughout the Bay Area. He provided the music for the maverick short film, "The Armchair Athlete." |

Natalie
Wilson Adjunct A native of Los Gatos, CA, mezzo-soprano Natalie Wilson has recently returned to the San Francisco Bay Area where she performs regularly with local opera companies. Recent performances include Amelie in Offenbach's The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein with Pocket Opera, Papagena in Mozart's The Magic Flute with Townsend Opera Players, Mrs. Nolan in Menotti's The Medium with the Pacifica Arts and Heritage Council, Opera San Jose, both as the Countess Ceprano in Verdi's Rigoletto and as a guest artist for their outreach program. Ms. Wilson holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she performed such roles as Hansel in Humperdink's Hansel and Gretel and the Secretary in Menotti's The Consul. Ms. Wilson also has a private voice studio. |
