NEW Digital Music Certificate Program

The new Digital Music Certificate Program addresses current advancements in the development of digital music systems and their widespread applications in both music, visual media, and multimedia productions. The courses are specially designed for students of all levels who are interested in electronic music, MIDI, commercial music, digital recording, music and sound for visual media, and audio for multimedia and the Internet. The curriculum provides students with hands-on experience and a working knowledge of the creative and technical issues surrounding the production of digital audio content and its application and synchronization within other media, as well as a solid foundation in the fundamentals of music.

The certificate will help prepare students for career opportunities, professional development, and personal enrichment in the fields of digital music production and distribution, commercial music, multimedia audio design, music software design, and audio for visual media. The one year program (17 units) includes the courses Intro to MIDI, Digital Music Systems, and Digital Audio for Multimedia, plus courses in basic music theory, piano skills, and music appreciation. There are no prerequisites, although Intro to MIDI and Class Piano are the best places to start. Courses may be repeated to further enhance your understanding, skill-set, and project portfolio. Advanced students record selected projects on CD. Many courses are offered in the evening.
