Mus*081  Digital Music Production I (offered Fall semester only)

 A hands-on survey of audio recording techniques using ProTools software and hardware.  Students will develop basic recording, editing and mixing skills through class projects and lectures.  Specific topics include: microphones, mic pre-amps, “live” sound reinforcement, tracking, editing, basic acoustics, creating audio for video, digital audio and features and use of ProTools digital recording software.

Mus*083  Digital Music Production II (offered Spring semester only)

 An advanced audio/MIDI production course using ProTools software and hardware.  Through a series of hands-on projects, students will learn how to produce digital music for use in film, radio, television, web applications and the music industry.  Projects focus on post-production skills including advanced editing, mixing concepts, voice-overs, audio and sound design for video and basic mastering.  Participation in at least one on-campus music event and a final portfolio of work is required.
