Introduction:
The Mission College Graphic Arts Program is the most comprehensive
program of its kind in Northern California. The program is over 20
years old and has grown and changed as the industry has adjusted to
the needs of the economy and the community.
At Mission College the Graphic Arts Program started out as the Printing
Technology Department. Although a small part of the program is still
devoted to darkroom work, stripping, plating, and offset press,
our program has expanded. With the advent of electronic publishing
and digital imaging in 1989, we expanded to include electronic page
layout, digital imaging, file manipulation, and prepress. The majority
of instruction focuses on desktop publishing on both Macintosh and
Windows platforms.
The
following courses are offered through the program:
- GRART050 Graphic Arts Technology: Industry Overview
- GRART062 Production Illustration using Adobe Illustrator
- GRART066 Advanced Production Illustration using Adobe Illustrator
- GRART063 Desktop Publishing using Quark Xpress or Adobe In-Design
- GRART064 Beginning Adobe Photoshop
- GRART068 Advanced Adobe Photoshop
- GRART065 Desktop Color Prepress
- GRART070 PDF Publishing and Web Publishing
- GRART075 Offset Press (including camera and stripping)
