GLOBAL ED COMMITTEE
The Global Education Committee started in 1990 as an offshoot of the Cultural
Pluralism Committee. Under the leadership of Rick Hobbs, the Global
Studies Degree and Certificate Programs were created, global workshops
were held, globalizing the curriculum was started, and many well-known speakers
were brought to campus. The foundations for globalizing the campus were
established. During the economic downturn of the mid-1990s most global activities
on campus came to a standstill. With recent funding through a USDE Title
VI Grant and a California FSS - Global Networking Grant the globalization
process on campus and in the district will be revitalized. Here is a list
of the current members of the Global Education Committee (open membership).
