Mark Garrett

Mark Garrett teaches classes in web design, digital photography, digital video, and motion graphics, among others. He has a BFA from the University of Arizona, and a Masters from UC Davis. He has worked as a professional web designer, photographer, and videographer, and has a lengthy fine art ehibition history.

Don Shields

Don Shields teaches animation, video game design, digital character animation, and digital art. He has a BFA from Washington University, and an MFA from Southern Methodist University. He received a Rome Prize and John Simon Guggenheim in painting, and his digital effects work received a Murphy Award. He has worked as a professional animator, modeler, video game effects artist, and in ink and paint. He has had New York painting shows, and exhibited his work extensively.

Melanie Kaye

Melanie Kaye is an Adjunct Instructor in the Graphic Design and Multimedia Department at Mission College.

Prior to joining Mission in 2009, Melanie taught Graphic Design at Brooks College Sunnyvale. She entered the teaching profession following a career in Design and Art Direction. She arrived in the Bay Area in 1979, where she joined Regis McKenna in Palo Alto as a Designer, moved to The van Bronkhorst Group, Santa Clara, as Senior Art Director until 1997, then to Bernard Hodes, Palo Alto as Senior Art Director, before accepting her first teaching position with Career Education Corporation in 2002.

When not teaching or working in her design consulting, Melanie can be found painting, collecting vintage ephemera, and planning her next creative project.
