Studying a foreign language: helps students sharpen their knowledge of their native language, enlarges cultural horizons, promotes understanding of cultural diversity, improves your cognitive and critical thinking abilities, catches the attention of people reading your résumé (both for graduate study or career advancement), and is a source of personal enrichment.
On GRE exams, foreign language students earn higher grades in verbal scores.
