Economics studies how people and societies produce various commodities and distribute them for consumption, now or in the future. Mission's economics offerings include the study of the American economic system, using techniques for the analysis of contemporary economic problems. There is an emphasis on developing the ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating public policy issues.

The goal of the Mission College
Economics Program is to provide quality and relevant instruction in the
principles of economics. The focus of the program is on meaningful and
useful information which the student can use in his/her everyday life.
In the introductory course in Economics 1A, that is, Macroeconomics, the
student define and use key words in the language of economics and finance.
Students analyze the economy as a whole, understand the determinants of
the level of income, employment and prices and manipulate the model of
money and banking, economic fluctuations nd development. They develop
the use of models and manage the model of national income determination.
