Adaptive Physical Education

PE 001A Adaptive Physical Education
Adaptive physical education program handled by a specialist to design physical education programs for the disabled. May be repeated for credit.
 
Credit/No Credit Option 1.0 Unit. Two sections of PE 001A are offered. Both sections meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with C. Ligocki in Room W1-402 from 8:20a.m. to 9:20a.m. or 9:25a.m. to 10:25a.m.

PE 001B Adaptive Physical Education
Adaptive physical education program handled by a specialist to design physical education programs for the disabled.
 
Credit/No Credit Option .5 Units. PE 001B is offered with C. Ligocki (by arrangement) in Room W1-402. This is a .5 unit course.

PE 001F Adaptive PE Aerobics
This course is designed to introduce and teach skills needed for daily cardiovascular activity through the use of rhythmic aerobics for students with disabilities.
 
Credit/No Credit Option 1.0 Unit. Two sections of PE 001F are offered. Both sections are Monday, Wednesday and Friday with C. Ligocki in Room W1-402 from 8:20a.m. to 9:20a.m. or 9:25a.m. to 10:25a.m.


LS 099E ADA Law and Workplace Accommodations
This course examines the regulations pertaining to disabilities in employment. Issues of disclosing a disability and "reasonable accommodations" in the workplace will be explored. Students will develop a comprehensive accommodations plan.

LS 901 Assessment for Learning Disabilities
This course is designed to assess eligibility for learning disabilities service and to identify specific areas of disability which may require specialized instruction or support services. Appropriate recommendations and referrals will be made.

LS 902 Assistive Technology Assessment
This course provides a means for evaluating the appropriate adaptations for computer access of students with disabilities. Appropriate recommendations will be made.

LS 940 Learning Strategies for Expressive Language
This course stresses the practical application of compensatory strategies for students with expressive language disabilities.

LS 941 Learning Strategies for the Disabled
This is an introductory course stressing learning strategies for students with disabilities.

LS 942 Math Strategies for the Disabled
This course is an introduction to mathematics strategies for students with disabilities who have had difficulty mastering the basic concepts of fractions, decimals and percents.

LS 943 Adapted Computer Basics and Word Processing
An introductory course designed for students with perceptual, physical, communication, or learning disabilities who wish to obtain 1.) basic information regarding computers and their operations and 2.) basic word processing skills through the use of assistive technology and/or compensatory strategies.

LS 944 Phonics and Spelling Strategies for Students with Disabilities
This course is an introduction to phonics and spelling for students with disabilities who have had difficulty mastering these concepts.

LS 950 Disabled Students Lab
This course is designed to offer students with disabilities an opportunity to practice compensatory strategy techniques in a laboratory setting.
 
Credit/No Credit Only. 1.0 Unit

LS 951 DISC Skills Lab
This course is designed for students who have taken LS 950 or students who already have instruction in assistive technology. Students will receive instruction and practice in newer versions of assistive software.
