Child Development Center Calendar (may change according the District Calendar)

  1. What ages does your center provide care for?
    We offer care for infants starting at six weeks old up to five years old or the summer before Kindergarten.
  2. Does my child have to be potty trained for the Toddler and Preschoolgroups?
    No, it is not a requirement. We will work with your child when he/she is ready to begin the toilet learning process in all the age groups.

  3. Is there a waiting list and how long is it?
    Yes, there is a waiting list. Depending on your child s age group, you may be on the waitlist for as little as a week or as long as 2-3 years.
  4. Why is the waiting list so long?
    There are several reasons why our waiting list may be so long.
    • Lower Group Sizes/ Lower Ratios - We have a limited group size in each classroom and we do not enroll unless there is a vacant space.
    • Transition only once a year - We practice continuity of care, where children stay in the same age group throughout a year. Other centers move their children up individually. (For example, when a child is crawling, walking, turns 1, etc.)
    • Priority Waitlist - We have priority waiting lists. It is as follows:
       
      Full Fee

      1. Sibling priority (for children with siblings already enrolled in the center)
       
      2. Fulltime (12+ units) students of Mission College/ Employees of the College
       
      3. Intel Employees (Effective 1/08: CDC Office will need a copy of Work Badge. Families already on the Intel Priority list will be required to show proof of employment at time of enrollment)
       
      4. Community open to everyone not on priority lists
       

      Subsidized(income guideline restricted)

      1. Sibling priorities
       
      2. CPS referrals
       
      3. Lowest per capita income
       

      Note: Mission College Students also have a priority in the subsidized area.

  5. How do I get my child(ren) on the wait list?
    FULL FEE FAMILIES:
    You will need to fill out a Preliminary Enrollment Application and pay the $50 wait list fee (application and fee per child). If you would like to mail in the Application and payment, please send it to:

    Make Check payable to: Mission College Child Development Center or MC- CDC. You can also fax your application to 408-855-5459 but you will not be placed on the waiting list until payment is received. You can also come into our office and pay in person by check or cash.
     
    SUBSIDIZED FAMILIES:
    You will need to fill out a Preliminary Enrollment Application with completed information. If your application is missing information, we will be contacting you about your specific situation. It is a possibility that we may be requesting additional documents to verify your need during this application process. Please note: If you fail to provide our office with the requested documents within two weeks, your application will be dropped as a potential enrollment, and you will have to reapply again.
  6. How do I know if I qualify for subsidized child care?
    Anyone applying for subsidized child care will also be referred to the CEL (Centralized Eligibility List) for Santa Clara County. For more information on the CEL please visit  the Santa Clara County 4C Centralized Eligibility List (4C CEL). This site will help you apply for child care assistance.

  7. I have 4Cs (Community Child Care Council)/CalWorks/ PaceAPP/Choices 4 Children/other  Alternative Paying Agency(APA). Do you accept funding from them?
    Yes, however you will still be placed on a waiting list. In this case, please state on Preliminary Enrollment Application if you are a Fulltime (12+ units) student at Mission College.
  8. Is there a discounted tuition rate for Intel employees?
    No.
  9. Can I come in for a tour?
    Yes. However, we do not offer walk-in tours. You will have to call 408-855-5173 to set an appointment with our director. We do have an open door policy, but this applies to you AFTERyour child is enrolled.

  10. Do I provide food for my child s day?
    No. Meals are included. The meals provided are: Breakfast, Lunch and Afternoon snack. We practice "family style dining", where the children and teachers dine together.
  11. I'm on the waiting list already, now what?
    We encourage you to check in every couple months to see what the status is on the list. During "PEAK ENROLLMENT SEASON" (Beginning of June- End of August) the situation may be changing week to week on the waiting list, calling every other week at this time would be ideal. Please call to update any contact information as it changes, so that we can contact you when a space becomes available.
  12. I was offered a spot, what happens now?
    You are given 2-3 days to respond. If you fail to respond, you are dropped off the list, and will have to reapply. If you decline the spot, you have a choice of:
     
    being put back on the wait list for another time . If you choose to do this, your original application date will be changed to the date you declined the spot
     
    -or-
     
    If you are no longer interest in the center, we will drop you off the waiting list.

  13. I accepted the spot offered to my child, what is the enrollment process?
    PAYMENT OF FEES & DEPOSIT - You will be required to pay a yearly equipment fee, and an enrollment fee. These fees may change so please refer to our current Tuition Schedule. In addition to the fees, you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of half the months tuition. We will give you the total amount due.
     
    ENROLLMENT APPOINTMENT - After your payment has been received, you will receive a packet of documents that you will need to complete. You will also receive the CDC calendar of days closed, and a Parent Handbook. An appointment will be made with the Enrollment Coordinator to go over these documents, and to sign additional documents such as Contract Hours. At this appointment, we will also set up an Orientation for you and your child(ren) to visit the center.
     
    ORIENTATION - The orientation is mandatory, and you will not be able to start at the center without this initial visit. The orientation allows you and your child to meet with the teachers and other children in the classroom. The teachers will go over classroom schedules, what you will need to bring, and talk to you about any concerns you may have with your child. The duration of Orientation is up to you. We would like you set at least an hour aside, but encourage you to stay half a day or more and join in the activities and including eating lunch with the class.
