Creativity Tithe. I'd like to propose a "creativity tithe": that 10% of classroom time be devoted to encouraging individual initiative and creativity. Creative dialoguing is one way to get kids involved again in the education process. I'd like to propose that the education process be reinvigorated by rewarding teachers who aren't afraid to risk letting kids say what they think, and who aren't afraid to say that they don't have all the answers. I can't think of anything holding more promise for the future than a teacher who, in a dialogue with kids, is willing to say to a student, "I don't know the answer to your question, but how do you think we might find it together?"
