Jessica Leffler has been working with Mission College since 2003. In addition to being the Program Coordinator and an instructor, Jessica currently works in the pharmacy industry as a pharmacy technician at Costco Pharmacy. Jessica, a seasoned technician of over 15 years, brings forth her experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings from San Jose Medical Group, and Valley Medical Clinics in Santa Clara. Moreover, Jessica attends yearly educator's conferences and pharmacy conventions for the latest and greatest pharmacy innovations. She also works very closely with all instructors for curriculum development. Jessica's expertise is teaching Intro to Pharmacy Practice, Pharmacy Terms and Abbreviations, Rx Processing, Pharmacy Calculations and Pharmacy Law. In her free time, Jessica likes to spend time on the family boat at their lake house.

Noori Khadem joined the exciting world of pharmacy back in 1998. All though she is primarily an outpatient pharmacy technician she has experience in an array of pharmacy arenas (retail, hospital, psychiatric, training/education, coordination). Noori has been with Mission College since 2003 and is currently co-coordinator of the pharmacy technician program. Noori also holds a position as an instructor and Job Placement/ Externship Coordinator for the program and is involved in outreach to students and the community. Noori has worked at sites including Longs Drugs, CVS, Valley Medical Clinics, and currently at El Camino Hospital's In-Patient Pharmacy. She received her bachelor's degree in Public Relations with a focus in Health Science from San Jose State University and a Masters of Public Administration with an emphasis in Health Services from the University of San Francisco. Noori's teaching areas include Pharmacy Communications/Customer Service, Professional Development, Over-the-Counter Drugs, Professional Development, and Inpatient Pharmacy Skills.

Dr. Ghahremani graduated pharmacy school from University of San Francisco and also received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics from UCSF. Dr. Ghahremani has Residency experience in Medical Information and Publications with exposure to Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Investigator Initiated Studies, and Medical Education. Dr. Ghahremani initiated and coordinated an elective in Women's Health Issues through the clinical pharmacy department. She also coordinated experts from multi disciplines such as medicine and pharmacy to present lectures on the most popular issues in women's health. Dr. Ghahremani has skills in critical evaluation of medical literature, medical and technical writing where she did this at ePocrates headquarters in San Mateo. In addition to teaching for our program, Dr. Ghahremani works as a medical Communication Manager Consultant at Actelion.

Dr. Nguyen graduated from Roseman University of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy and has worked several years at Walgreens Pharmacy. In addition to outpatient pharmacy practice she has inpatient experiences which include clerkships at Good Samaritan Hospital and O'Connor Hospital. Dr. Nguyen also has Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Brown University and a Masters of Electrical Engineering from University of Vermont and prior to entering pharmacy worked 12 years at IBM. Dr. Nguyen's professional career consists of SRAM chip design engineer, research scientist, project manager, pharmacist, pharmacy instructor, pharmacy program director, and recently book author. In addition to teaching experiences in Community Pharmacy, Compounding, Pharmacology, and Pharmacy Math, she has experiences with ASHP program accreditation / compliance, Six Sigma, SAS, PTCB training, and curriculum design / development. She is very passionate about teaching, helping students achieve their goals, and making a positive difference. Currently she is also pharmacy consultant for a non-profit organization. When not in pharmacy or teaching, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with her children and volunteering at various non-profit organizations.

 

Bond Kou, Pharm.D, InstructorBond Kou, Pharm.D

Dr. Kou did his pre-pharmacy work at UCLA and received his B.S. in pharmacy from the Ohio State University and later his doctor of pharmacy from Idaho State University. He began his pharmacy career as an intern pharmacist at Children's Hospital. Upon graduation, he first worked as a staff pharmacist at Payless Drug Store. Then he became an inpatient pharmacist at Kaiser Permanente. After about six months, he transferred to the outpatient pharmacy at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara where he has been the manager since 1993. Dr. Kou has also been an on-call pharmacist with CVS pharmacies since 2001. In 2005, he began teaching pharmacology and law with our pharmacy technician program. In addition, Dr. Kou holds adjunct professorship at the College of Pharmacy at Touro University, Roseman University, and University of the Pacific, Western University, Loma Linda University, and Washington University. As an adjunct professor, his primary duties are to teach and train pharmacist externs all aspects of outpatient pharmacies including disease state evaluation, drug-drug interactions, pharmacy therapeutics and patient consultation, etc. Dr. Kou also works at the externship coordinator at Kaiser working as the liaison between Mission College and Kaiser. When Dr. Kou is not at work, he enjoys mountain biking, road cycling, open-water swimming, weight-lifting and spending quality time with his family.

Katie has been working with our program since 2011 and currently works at Valley Medical Hospital in San Jose. Prior to that, Katie has worked at Longs and CVS pharmacies. She has been a licensed pharmacy technician since 2005. Her professional areas of interests are Clinical and Outpatient pharmacy practices and particularly likes dealing with the behind the scenes insurance aspects. In her spare time she likes playing softball, kickboxing, watching the SF Giants play and traveling. Currently, Katie is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management.

Niloo joined our Pharmacy Technician Training Program in 2011. Niloo's area of expertise in assisting is math calculations and spends copious time tutoring students before and after class. Students have said she makes math really easy to understand. Math can be challenging at times and Niloo is very patient with the students.

Elham joined our Pharmacy Technician Training Program in 2011 bringing forth her retail pharmacy technician expertise. Elham can relate to students in the classroom as she can still recall the days of being a student. She has been working as a pharmacy technician since 2010 at CVS Pharmacy and has great experience in medication inventory. Currently Elham works as a pharmacy technician at Costco. In addition, Elham had her outpatient pharmacy training at Kaiser where she completed her externship in 2009.
