Attention: Effective November 1st, all the childbirth and infant care classes will be feebased.

Preparing for Childbirth / Infant Care Classes

Preparing for Childbirth This class is designed for expectant parents to learn about pregnancy, breathing and relaxation techniques, admitting policies, and delivery proceŽdures. A Virtual Tour of the Maternity Department at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara can be seen at www.kaisersantaclara.org or by logging on to your OB Providers homepage.

  • Bring 2 pillows and a mat (yoga mat or an oversized towell) to your class meetings.
  • Please, no children.
  • Weeknight classes are 4 weeks, 8 hours.
  • Saturday and Sunday classes are accelerated 8 hr classes.

Infant Care is a 6 hr. class designed to introduce new parents and child care providers (baby-sitters, grand-parents, etc.) to current child care issues and practices. This class includes information on bathing, feeding and safety issues for infants daily care.

Registration Policies and Procedures

Refer to the online class schedule for dates, times & places, and class section number - it is suggested that you choose a class that concludes three weeks prior to your delivery date.

Please choose your class wisely as there is limited space. Changes can only made due medical reasons and will require a doctor's note.

Should you deliver your baby prior to the class date, please call

us within two weeks to ask for a refund.

Our classes are open to public and we have limitted spaces available. If you want to assure you are registerd in your desired date instantly, please proceed for online registeration as it is described here.

Note: Register mother only. Each mother will bring her partner to the class.

b. Click on Community Education Picture on the right hand side of the screen.

c. Click on 2nd Option: Search, Register and Pay for Child Birth Classes.

d. There is a search page in front of you. If you submit the search with no specification, you will get the most updated schedule.

2. Register by fax, phone or walk ins:

We put your application in order which we recieved for the following methods of registerations. If you want to assure you are registerd in your desired date instantly, please proceed for online registeration.
 

  • Fax a photocopy of your completed registration form page from the (.pdf) to (408) 855-5480. Please include payment information - registration cannot be made without it.
     
  • Mail this form and check payable to:

  • Walk-in. Walk-ins are welcome M-F, 10:00-12:30 and 1:30-3
  • Charge by phone (408) 855-5106. Leave your name and a daytime phone number.

Cancellation of classes: Students will be contacted by phone if a class is cancelled. If we are unable to place you into another class, a full refund will be forwarded. Students need to cancel their class no later than 24 hours prior to the class date. If they fail to cancel in advance, no refund will be issued.

  1. Parking is available in Lots C and D (follow signs to Homestead East Lobby)
     
  2. Enter through the Homestead East Lobby and proceed down the hall to the right
     
  3. Look for and follow signs leading to Dept 196 (Conference Center)
     
  4. All classes are held within the conference rooms of the Conference Center on the 1st floor, Dept 196.
     
  5. For information and directions, visit the Information Counter or access one of the "Find Your Way" kiosks found immediately inside the lobby entrance.

These classes are open to public.
